First Firing

Red hot kiln......impatience on my part....not enough time allowed so fell just short of 1260c.

So although they still look interesting the glazes have not matured, better than melting all over the kilns!! This kiln is the sitter type, and is good for bisc firing and i am sure with patience is good also for earthen ware.

So now its time to trial and test the front loader complete with digital programmer and thermostats.

Tin Can Pottery

Planning a new collection of coffee cups so trialed several handles.

I loaded up the smaller top loader kiln that i have, good for bisc, but unsure about Stoneware.

5 in 3D Exhibition At Greyfriars Art Space

 Busy setting up the exhibition along with colleagues.

"Wing Section" Raku Fired Ceramic, Metal Powders, on display in main window - loads of light which these pieces need as to high light the patina.

Raku and Pit Firing Fuselage Sections

 Fired the first prototypes in my wood burner in the lounge. Must have reached a good 850 c with the doors just open.

 Addition of rusting compound compliments the half matured glazes.

 Final addition of oxides & sulfates.

 New fiber raku kiln set up at home.

 First wing sections to emerge from the devastation.

 Wing detail showing the hardened clay rivets stuffed throught the soft clay sheets and extruded girders.

The triptych emerges.

New Works An Industrial Triptych

Raku clay slab rolled and extruded beams, riveted and detailed.

 Nice welded joints on the flanges.

 A kind of triptych I guess, but industrial.

All this needs many more treatments and firings until its ready for the exhibition.
